OUR LIGHTEST HARDSHELL EVER

Arc’teryx debuts the Alpha SL Anorak, new for Spring 21. Our lightest 3-layer hardshell is ready to deliver proven GORE-TEX protection in a lightweight package, 180g in women’s small or 210g in the men’s medium. Through the development of a proprietary fabric, N20r-LCP paired with a 3L GORE-TEX, the Alpha SL resists tears and abrasion at reduced weight. Minimalist by design, yet still featured for unforgiving alpine conditions, the Alpha SL is built to withstand the realities of rock, ice and alpine climbing.

WHY WE MADE THIS

At Arc’teryx, we aim to use the best materials to create the most refined and durable products possible. The added strength of weaving Liquid Crystal Polymer (LCP) was first introduced to the line via the Alpha AR packs in Spring 2019. Created through incorporating LCP into the weaving process, this revolutionary fabric utilizes the LCP as an engineered ripstop grid incorporated into a high tenacity nylon fabric. Building on this knowledge and by working with our partners at GORE-TEX, Arc’teryx designers and developers paired a 25d Liquid Crystal Polymer grid with a 20d dope dyed nylon face to test the limits of how far this fabric could take us. The result is Arc’teryx’s lightest hardshell ever.

The Alpha SL Anorak is proof that lightweight and durable aren’t mutually exclusive. Designed for use in alpine environments, the Alpha SL Anorak provides exceptional durability and weather protection when you need it most.

The Alpha SL Anorak includes the essentials like a helmet-compatible StormHood™  that adjusts for superior peripheral vision, an easily accessible single chest pocket and a deep front WaterTight™  zipper to dump heat quickly and make for an easy on-and-off. The adjustable wrist cuffs and a single hem draw cord adjustment work together to seal out the weather. Packing down into a small unassuming package, the Alpha SL is built to withstand the realities of rock, ice and alpine climbing.
