Inspired by the power of exceptional design to address complex problems, Drummond Lawson brings values-based leadership and scientific rigor to his work as a change agent at Arc’teryx.
Since joining Arc’teryx in 2013, Drummond launched the company’s sustainability program and has led foundational efforts to ignite the brand’s culture, vision and strategy. His primary focus as Chief of Staff is strategy implementation, working within the Senior Leadership Team to drive transformative programs across the organization. In addition, Drummond has oversight of the sustainability program and its focuses on science-based climate action, circular economy product design, and social impact programs.
An environmental chemist by background, Drummond came to Arc’teryx after directing sustainability efforts at Method Products in San Francisco. His experience also includes working as a Cradle to Cradle materials scientist at EPEA in Hamburg, an R&D chemist at CanSolv in Montreal, and as a tree-planter in some of the loneliest corners of Western Canada.
Driven by curiosity, Drummond completed a Masters, Business and Sustainability in 2013 from Cambridge University, a Masters, Environmental Chemistry in 2006 from the Université de Savoie, and his BSc, Environmental Sciences and Chemistry in 2005 from the University of Calgary. He is a fellow of the Aspen Institute First Movers’ social intrapreneurship fellowship.
Drummond moved west from his native Montreal to Canmore’s mountains as a cross country ski racer. Today, he is a competitive cyclist, skier and runner with an impressive list of crashes all around British Columbia’s backcountry.
