Inspired by his love of outdoor sport, CJ King joined Arc’teryx in 2016 as long-time veteran of the outdoor apparel industry, having over fifteen years of global experience working with brands including The North Face, Nike, Pearl Izumi, and Smartwool. After spending his early days in product development, CJ transitioned to merchandising, and then international sales and business development for SmartWool. There he led the vision and strategy behind targeted regional growth, and was awarded SmartWool’s highest honour, the Pinnacle Award for humanity, humility, excellence, and integrity.
Today as General Manager, North America CJ oversees operations and activities for Arc’teryx including sales, dealer services, and customer service across the continent. CJ brings a comprehensive understanding of the core Arc’teryx business, marketplace, product merchandising, and sales within the outdoor apparel sector. He is known for dynamic leadership skills that have been foundational to his career growth. In addition to leading the company’s sales organization, CJ also serves on the Senior Leadership Team.
CJ is passionate about helping others get outside and experience impactful moments through outdoor sport. His work is driven by the belief that every time someone uses an Arc’teryx product, we are helping fuel a better outside experience. CJ is not only motivated by helping others get what they want in their life, but also passionate about helping people navigate their career progression at Arc’teryx.
A Chicago local, CJ received his BS, General Business from the University of Miami in Oxford, Ohio and completed the Financial Analysis for Non-Financial Managers program from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Today, CJ spends most of his free time chasing around his children Cooper, 13, and Carden, 15, in the outdoors against the backdrop of the Coast Mountains. Whenever possible, he also enjoys mountain biking, skiing, trail running, and rock climbing.
